Target Population: Teens who are siblings of special needs children
Group Description: For teens who have a sibling with special needs. The special needs can include: developmental, cognitive, behavioral, and medical. The glass child may feel overlooked, invisible, or transparent as a result of the attention needed for the sibling with special needs. A glass child, despite intense resilience, may feel like a perfectionist, that their emotions are burdensome, and that they need to be self-sufficient. It is not uncommon for the glass child to feel resentful towards or jealous of the attention that their sibling receives, to witness traumatic medical, emotional, or behavioral events without the adequate support, or to feel dismissed regarding their emotional reactions.
When the Group Meets: Thursdays 5-6 pm, online beginning March 12, 2026
