Biography

Hello and welcome. I use a very gentle, compassionate, effective method that is designed to include the whole body, it is not just talk therapy. It is called Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), which is one of the many types of somatic-oriented methods developed in the last 30 years. (For research studies go here: http://www.energypsych.org/?Research_Landing.)

The somatic methods of AIT are designed to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, etc., through the work with the therapist. However, the best part is that you can take away skills to use for the rest of your life to manage difficulties and stay connected to a path of healing. My clients say things such as, "I'm so glad I found you," and, "I'm much better." I believe this is because they have integrated the tools they've learned from the work.

This therapy can be done via video sessions as well as in person, but it's helpful to meet in person at least a few times, depending on the weather, emergency health issues, or world health conditions and requirements.

For those of you who have physical illness, remember that it affects our body chemistry, and this alters our emotional and mental state. Some people who have never had problems with depression or anxiety may experience these for the first time. Therefore it's important to consider depression, anxiety, or other mental distress as possibly related to physical dis-ease or a sudden major change in life, not primarily a psychological disorder. I hope this reduces some of the fear, shame, or stigma that comes when one is suffering from mental distress.

I have personally practiced meditation, healthy diet, and exercise for over 30 years. I am a survivor of serious illness since the early 1990's, including cancer and serious Lyme disease, and I am living a healthy and active life. I compassionately support others on the healing path.

I also encourage clients who want to have a more complete healing experience to seek out and include different forms of treatment. This is sometimes called "Complementary Medicine" and can include simple and free activities such as exercise, singing, community volunteering, or it can include acupuncture, music/sound healing, seeing a licensed homeopath or naturopath practitioner, etc. I also support the research results on meditation, which is very positive for physical and mental health, and sometimes include that in the therapy, if people are interested.

May your journey bring the healing you wish for. May darkness and despair be replaced with light, wisdom, and unlimited kindness.
