How will I receive my login?

Each member is responsible for their own login information and password. When you complete the membership application, you will be prompted to enter your email address and create a password as part of the process.

Do I need to apply again even though I am already a member?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With the transition of the site, for formality purposes, please fill out the application again. You will be approved by our Board and noted as an existing member.

Question 3

What happens when I submit a new application, but I am an existing member?

Accepted Answer

As long as you use the email address already associated with your membership, the transition will be seamless. If you update your license type, license number, or professional education, the new information will override the details currently in your account. Once your membership application is reapproved, you will have the opportunity to review and edit your directory listing.

How do I transfer my membership from the old site?

We created the Transitional Membership Plan as a way to honor and support our current community while we build the next evolution of the Hudson Valley Guild. This complimentary plan ensures members can continue accessing the Guild through December 31, 2026, while we prepare for the launch of our new tiered membership model.At the time of the site launch, please enroll in the Complimentary Transitioning Member Plan for the remainder of 2026. In January 2027, members will be invited to re-enroll in a new membership tier that reflects the expanded offerings and opportunities available through the Guild. We’re excited to continue growing alongside our community and look forward to welcoming members into this next chapter.

How does membership sign up work?

Check Qualifications. Use our checklist to ensure that you qualify to become a member of the Hudson Valley Guild.Submit Application. Submit your application by visiting the Membership Application page. You will receive a confirmation via email when your application has been accepted. Opt in to the Transitioning Member Plan. For the remainder of 2026, you will enroll in our Complimentary Transitioning Member Plan. The Transitional Membership Plan is a complimentary membership option created to support our existing community as we prepare for the next chapter of the Hudson Valley Guild. This plan provides continued access through December 31, 2026, at no cost while we transition to a new tiered membership structure.Join the Directory (Optional). How do membership plans work?

The Board has created a complimentary membership to provide uninterrupted access and connection as we prepare for the launch of our new membership structure in January 2027.This plan can be found by visiting the Complimentary Transitioning Member Plan page. Your transition membership will start at the time of the new website launch and remain active through December 31, 2026.As we approach December 31, you will receive email notifications reminding you to opt into a membership pricing tier of your choice. You are responsibile for opting into the tier of your choosing. If you fail to do so by January 15, 2027, you will receive forum access until you pay your dues again. Important note: Memberships are no longer tied to the calendar year. Your membership will run for one full year from the date you enroll on the new website.

I understand the Complimentary Transition Plan extends through 2026, but I joined the Guild later in the year. How will the Guild ensure my 2026 membership dues are fairly recognized?

If you joined the Guild later in the year and would like to discuss a prorated adjustment to reflect the length of time your plan was active, please reach out to the Board. We’re happy to help determine the best option for your continued membership.

I applied and was approved to the site, but why aren't I able to access certain pages and features?

The Hudson Valley Guild website follows a two-step process to become an active member.The first step is to submit an application and receive approval. This is the step you have seemingly already completed. The next step is to pay Membership Dues. Paying dues is the way to gain access to paid features of the site and the forum discussion groups. Does enrollment run from January through December like the old site?

No. Unlike the old site, memberships are no longer tied to the calendar year.

Your membership period is based on the date you originally enrolled. Depending on the plan you select, your membership will either:
Automatically renew each year on your enrollment date, or
Expire on that date and require you to re-enroll

How do forums/"listserv" work?

Forums, colloquially called the “listserv”, are structured similarly to the old format. You can reply to discussions either directly on the website or by email. You will receive an invitation link to join automatically after paying your membership dues.The benefit of this new system is its flexible notification settings. You can choose to receive notifications for every topic and reply, only the first post in a discussion, or just posts where you are mentioned.For more details on these settings and instructions, please visit the For Guild Members page for an instructional video.

Why aren't forums called a “listserv” anymore?

The Guild’s new site refers to this discussion space as forums, which is also the terminology used by the previous site. The term “listserv” has simply become the more familiar, every day way many Guild members refer to these email-based groups—and that’s perfectly okay! You can continue calling them “listservs” in conversation, if that’s what you’re used to.

Why do I need a separate login for the forum/"listserv"?

The Hudson Valley Guild website and forum are technically hosted on two different platforms, so you’ll need to create a separate Discourse login to access the community forum.Once you’re logged in, Discourse will keep you signed in indefinitely, so you shouldn’t need to log in again each time you visit that area of the site. If you reset your browser settings or clear your saved data, you may need to log in again. Either way, your email access will not be disrupted.You can also access the forums directly from the Guild website using the Forums/Listserv tab under the "For Guild Members" dropdown.

Are the forum/"listserv" email addresses the same as the old site?

With the transition to the new site, the email addresses for the Guild’s forum groups have also changed. Will I still be included in the therapist directory?

Accepted Answer

Yes! As long as you sign up using the same email address as membership on the old website, your information has been automatically transferred to the new site, with the exception of a few newly added categories.

Your profile will not appear in the directory until you review your account and check the “Active Liability Insurance” box. This step ensures your information is accurate and up to date during the transition.

Are Therapist Lounge events managed differently compared to the old site?

A key feature of the new website is the ability to create, manage, and promote events directly on the site.

The application process remains unchanged: simply submit an application and follow the instructions on the form of your choice (mini grant or presenter), available on the Applications page.

After working with the Events Committee, they will input event details—such as date, time, location, and description—into the back end.

Once added, the event information will be automatically displayed on the public-facing site for attendees to view and register. For non-members, a payment link via PayPal will be included at the bottom. Attendees will also receive confirmation emails, reminders, and other helpful alerts leading up to the event.
